Business Card Ideas

In the digital age of the world wide web, email and multimedia, one would think that the basic old school business card might fall to the way side. The business card is still being used and is very important. Here are some great business card design ideas that show you don't have to have a traditional card to hand out your contact information. Check them out here, Cool business card designs and Creative business card designs.

These were both sent to me by one of my students, Jeremy Sabacek a talented artist. (who by the way is available for hire!)

Dingbats Roundup

OK I am not asking you to gather up some of the programmers at Microsoft, or invite any of the I players from the Dallas Cowboys to join you in a meeting of the minds. I am talking about typeface dingbats.

This is something fun, not too many people think about using Dingbats but they can be very useful!

Happy Birthday Photoshop!

Photoshop 1.0 shipped on February 19, 1990 (and Lightroom shipped on the same day of February 2007). If you want to see more on the history of the time line of Photoshop and other great stories from Thomas Knoll and some of the other digital greats that had a hand in on creating some of the world most used and loved software, take a look here.

Wow, I was working for Electro-Ad Sign Systems at the time and was still using press type and a scale ruler. My Wife (engaged at the time) had a Mac SE30. We had Aldus PageMaker 1.0 on it, and Mac Paint and Mac Draw. It wasn't until I had started at Security Mutual when I finally got them to purchase Adobe Photoshop version 2.5. I remember driving to Florida that Christmas and bringing the manual to read down and back. Layers were not part of the program until version 3.0, so creating images in 2.5 was real fun.

I remember going to a Graphic SIG with Eric Hards, and seeing Photoshop 3.0 with layers for the first time. As soon as the people in the room saw how you put things on there own layers, (after the huge gasp) you could of heard a pin drop! Every one had to pick there jaws up off the floor.

Phantom High-Speed Imaging 1 Million Images Per Second

Time is valuable. Successful organizations learn to make the most effective use of time.

Consider a device with the ability to literally make every second count. A device that can divide just one second into thousands of visible sections for critical study and inspection of the normally unseen. This same device also has the power to save days, weeks, and possibly months of time in almost any rapidly paced activity that involves movement.

You have to check this out. They have video on their site showing what this device can do.

Mondrianum is a Powerful Plug-in That Works With Adobe Kuler

Lithoglyph’s Mondrianum is a powerful plug-in that enables Mac applications to leverage the resources of the kuler community. Once installed, Mondrianum acts like a built-in, system-wide color picker, available in any Mac application that supports this feature of Mac OS X. Apple’s own iWork™ and iLife® suites, Google Sketchup™, Adobe® Photoshop®, and renowned applications like Coda, CSSEdit, and many more, all work well with Mondrianum.

You can download this plug-in and use it. My good friend and colleague Paul Marinaro from One on One Design sent me this link.
